This 36-page booklet is designed as a checklist to assist interveners, teachers, administrators, and parents in understanding the roles and responsibilities of interveners in educational settings.

Parent Booklet A Family’s Guide to Interveners – this 62-page booklet describes deafblindness and the role of interveners, and then guides parents through the components of the IEP process that are most critical to determining the need for intervener services in educational settings.

Ruth Ryder Letter – From the US Department of Education’s Office of Special Education Programs (OSEP) describing the use of interveners as a related service under IDEA.

Sensory Perspectives CD – This excellent interactive 2-disk DVD set addresses sensory loss related to deafness, blindness, and deafblindness.  The program includes information on sensory loss and simulations of different types of hearing, vision, and combined vision and hearing losses.

Understanding and Interacting with Infants, Toddlers, and Preschool Age Children with Deafblindness – This 576-page manual contains information and activities specifically for persons working with infants and young children who are deafblind or who have both visual and hearing impairments.

Understanding Deafblindness: Issues, Perspectives and Strategies – This 918-page 2-volume curriculum is for parents, interveners, and service providers working with children and young adults who are deafblind and their families. It covers all aspects of deafblind programming including communication, concept development, vision, hearing, family issues, touch, sensory integration, intervener role and services, physical education, additional disabilities, orientation and mobility, community support, and evaluation. It contains clear and informative presentations with helpful summaries and many illustrations.
